New Product Annie Sloan Gloss and Matte Lacquer
We are excited to announce an exciting new product - Annie's new Lacquer!
Comes in Matte, and....
Chalk Paint® Lacquer is a hard-wearing, water-based polyacrylic varnish with built-in UV protection. Use it over Chalk Paint® for a robust finish that will withstand general wear and tear – perfect for dining room tables, outdoor furniture, floors and skirting boards. It goes on clear and dries quickly without yellowing over time.
In the past, Annie's Lacquer was only matte and came in a 1000 mL container and covered 100 sq ft. The new Lacquer comes in MATTE AND GLOSS, is 750 mL, and covers 200 sq ft. IT'S TRUE! Smaller containers, more coverage. It is low in VOC's and is toy safe. The Lacquer can be applied by brush, roller or spray gun. Experiment with dilution ratios in your sprayer to see what works best with your particular model.
TIPS AND TRICKS:
Store the Lacquer upside down before use. This enables the flattening agents to be released in the Lacquer.
Add about 10% of water into the first coat.
Don't 'over brush' the Chalk Paint® Lacquer when applying.
Sand between coats for an extra smooth finish.
Let dry 2 hours between coats.
The second coat should be a thin coat. (Don't dilute the second coat)
Let the final coat dry overnight. Curing time for maximum protection can take up to 14 days.
Stir Lacquer well; never shake it. Shaking can introduce bubbles. For an even application, stir often during use to make sure all the flattening agents evenly distributed.
Apply Matte Lacquer sparingly over dark colors to avoid cloudiness. With a water-based Lacquer, you'll need to work somewhat faster and use a synthetic brush.
If you're new to Lacquer, I suggest starting with a relatively small project to get the feel of the material and process.
Both finishes can be used for interior and exterior projects.
The new Lacquer has UV Protection which will keep colors vibrant outdoors. For best results apply 2 thin coats for outdoor use.
CLEAN UP OF BRUSHES: Wash brushes or sponge rollers thoroughly in soap and water immediately after use.
STORAGE: Store your Lacquer in a cool, dry place, preferably at a constant temperature. Annie suggests decanting used tins that are less than half full into smaller, tightly sealed containers.
SHELF LIFE: For best results, Annie suggests using it within one year of purchase.
Please note: The Lacquer cannot be used over Annie's Wax, BUT you can wax over Lacquer!
